Shanara Gabrielle is a midwest-based artist working in a wide variety of theatrical mediums and is so pleased to join Door County SHakespeare for this season as the Movement Director! Interested in creating new work and reimagining classic texts, most recently Ms. Gabrielle developed a new play in “Ignite” at St. Louis Repertory Theatre, performed A Winter’s Tale and Romeo & Juliet with Notre Dame Shakespeare, devised a one-woman cabaret show, and worked at the nationally renowned Actors Theatre of Louisville. Most recently as a director, she directed at The Coterie Theatre in Kansas City and currently, her adaption of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is touring with The Shakespeare Festival St. Louis. Ms. Gabrielle has worked at theaters across the country including: The Guthrie Theater, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Great Lakes Theatre, Northern Stage, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Metropolitan Playhouse, St. Louis Repertory Theatre, Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, Stages St. Louis, Theatre for the New City, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, The Black Rep, and been an ensemble member at The Great River Shakespeare Festival. She has appeared in film, television, and commercials. She is a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.
