Door Shakespeare announced both the plays and casts for its 2013 summer season, and tickets are now on sale.

approval payday loans

For the first time in the company’s history, it will present William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” with the plays performed outdoors, in the garden at Björklunden in Baileys Harbor.

“Love’s Labour’s Lost” will be directed by Kennedy Center award-winner Matt Foss, who has worked at theaters across the country and abroad, including Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and American Studio at the Moscow Art Theatre School. “Macbeth” will be directed by Chicago-based actor/director Jason Economus, who performed with Door Shakespeare in the 2005 season productions of “The Comedy of Errors” and “She Stoops to Conquer.”

Audience favorite Angela Iannone will return this summer, featured in the role of Lady Macbeth, opposite New York-based actor Reese Madigan as Macbeth. Both will also be seen in “Love’s Labour’s Lost.” Iannone and Madigan are associate artists at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, where they last performed together in 2011’s “Lombardi.”

Chicago-based actor Bret Tuomi joins Door Shakespeare for the first time, playing Don Armado in “Love’s Labour’s Lost” and Duncan in “Macbeth.” Tuomi’s recent credits include the Goodman Theatre’s “The Iceman Cometh” with Brian Dennehey, “Julius Caesar” at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and “Rock of Ages” on Broadway.

Door Shakespeare alumnus Jennefer Ludwigesen returns to play Rosalind in “Love’s Labour’s Lost” and Lady MacDuff in “Macbeth.” Dave Folsom will play Berowne in “Love’s …” and MacDuff in “Macbeth.” Both actors are coming to Door Shakespeare from Los Angeles where their recent short film, “Legitimate,” is making the film festival curcuit around the country and was recently featured at the L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival.

The rest of the 2013 acting ensemble is Carley Cornelius, Danny Junod and Casey Wortmann, along with Foss and Economus. These actors have extensive experience in area theaters, in addition to credits garnered from summer Shakespeare theaters including Utah Shakespeare Festival, Great River Shakespeare Festival and American Players Theatre.

The apprentice and intern company features Jake Lesh, Colin Morgan, Dan Poppen, Elodie Senetra, Jeff White and Kate Zehr. These young actors are currently working at theaters like the Actors Theatre of Louisville and Memphis’ Playhouse on the Square.

Door Shakespeare’s 2013 season runs July 5 thru Aug. 17 in the outdoor garden at Bjorklunden, 7590 Boynton Lane, just off Wisconsin 57, Baileys Harbor. All shows start at 8 p.m.; “Love’s Labour’s Lost” takes the stage Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and “Macbeth” plays Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets are $27 for adults, $17 students, $7 ages 11 and younger for general admission; Queen’s Box reserved seating (for up to eight people) is $37 per person.

Door Shakespeare presents Jennefer Ludwigsen’s outstanding program of classes to enrich theatrical creativity, technique, story telling and communication through the words of Shakespeare and the creating original theatre!

In its 8th season, DOORWAYS is a workshop dedicated to the development of communication skills, language and group social skills through the process of creating original theatre. Our goal is to nurture children’s ability to voice their opinions, communicate their thoughts, and ultimately, discover their creativity through ensemble work and the poetry of Shakespeare.

Daily, the students will play theater and improv games in which leadership is shared by all, making no one a star, but making everyone part of a dynamic group. The younger group with be introduced to Shakespeare through fun, accessible examples and exercises. The workshop for middle and high school students will explore improvisation and traditional theater games as well, but focus more intensely on the rich poetry of Shakespeare’s words, using a variety of techniques, monologue and scene work.

The camp will culminate in a special performance of the students’ original work before Door Shakespeare’s Friday night performance of AS YOU LIKE IT.
