Shakespeare’s First Folio exhibit at Chazen Museum of Art
MADISON (WKOW) — Some of Shakespeare’s most important work is on display right now at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison.
It’s in the form of a 400-year-old book.
Inside you’ll find original copies of classics like Macbeth and Julius Ceasar.
The University of Wisconsin–Madison was selected as the host site for the First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare, a national traveling exhibition of the Shakespeare First Folio, one of the world’s most treasured books.
The exhibition celebrates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.
The book was compiled by his friends who performed in his plays centuries ago.
“There’s so much different outreach opportunity and so much different programming that’s happening around this exhibition. It’s just such rich material and it’s an amazing thing for us to have it here,” says exhibition manager Ann Sinfield.
In addition to the First Folio, the Chazen has rare Shakespeare-related posters from all over the world.
The exhibit will run through December 11.
